FAQ

How is your device different from other G.P.S. Tracking units for vehicles?

    GPS Tracking is only a small added benefit to the AXON’s capabilities. With one connector the AXON is able to connect to the vehicle and continually monitor vehicle parameters and send them back and forth from the back-end server. The AXON also provides the opportunity for two-way communication, which allows commands o be sent back to the vehicle. The final difference is that the AXON unit is much less inexpensive than all the other GPS solutions.

What Vehicles may use the AXON?

    All 96 and newer cars, vans, SUV’s, transport trucks, and motorcycles.

Is Power Consumption an issue?

    No. The AXON is manufactured using approved and qualified automotive grade system suppliers and is designed by a team of engineers that have already designed electronic component design systems for major manufacturers such as GM, Ford, Chrysler, and others. This is a high quality product and all such issues as power consumption have been thought through. When the vehicle is inactive the AXON will shut itself down by going to sleep, and it will turn itself back on when the ignition is turned on.

Is there any service or maintenance that has to be done to the unit itself?

    No. New updates to the software will be uploaded automatically. Once the unit is installed it does not need to be touched.

How much wiring is involved when connecting your unit to the vehicle?

    The AXON unit does not need to splice any wires. It uses one connector and there are no extra loose wires. The integrated antenna and all the other components are already enclosed within the plastic mold. The device runs on only three lines: B+, BUS, & GND. Optional installation methods are available that make it easy for you to install but difficult for others to remove.

Do you sell individual units?

    Yes. We have just recently commenced selling individual units to individual customers.

Do I need to purchase the unit or may I lease it?

    It is not necessary to purchase the Axon it may also be leased on a monthly basis.

What happens when the unit is in an area where the antenna is unable to transmit new data? For instance, in an underground garage/tunnel?

    The AXON’s ability to transmit data, even in garages, is very strong and it should not really be a major concern. However, in this certain type of situation the information will be stored inside the AXON’s memory and the information will be sent out immediately at the next opportunity of transmission.

How long will it take to install the unit?

    It will take approximately 5-10 minutes / vehicle. If the device is to be hidden it may take a few minutes longer since an optimal location in the vehicle will need to be found.

Why is my information not being displayed correctly? What are the compatibility requirements?

    For optimal results it is best to use the following programs to display your information:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer V6.0 or V7.0
  • Microsoft Word 97-2003
  • Microsoft Excel 97-2003 or 2007

Can this unit send text information back to the driver?

    The unit was not designed to communicate with the driver; it was designed to communicate with the vehicle and possibly monitor the driver’s driving habits. Most customers may prefer to not share the information with the drivers that the unit is installed.
    However, we have integrated the AXON with Garmin products to provide this feature and we have recently begun integrating our unit to a BlackBerry via BlueTooth technology in order to provide this function. If this type of technology is of interest to you then please let us know.

Can we send this data directly to our own server?

    Yes, this can be arranged.

Is an extended warranty available?

    Yes, this option is also available.

    Yes, Technicians are available and we are able to reach customers in every state and province in N.A.

I have a Garmin Nuvi, how can I combine this and the AXON unit together?

    You must first see if you have the correct compatible Garmin product: here.
    The second step would be to obtain the specially designed interface cable from us.
